What is the dress attire for dinner?
This place is amazing! This is in the original Castle. Our server Brandon was polite, attentive and knowledgeable. Drinks and food were creative and tasty. Great for a special night out.
MoreThe Prime Rib was the best I have ever had.
Great food, wonderful atmosphere and not as expensive as you might expect.
lousy meal for price. peppercorn dressing so hot could not taste cheese or salad, brocolli was barely blanched and cold, garlic mashed potatoes served at room temperature. the place is beautiful but spare yourself the meal.
MoreI was at Edgar for Sunday brunch. The food was ok overall It was warm and the selection was nice. My celiac bf was able to find many gluten free options. I loved the home fries. My one complaint is with the seating, for buffets customers are going to be standing and sitting more often than during a standard meal so when patrons are seated three in a row against a wall it is really difficult for that middle person. Maybe just pull the table out a little to create more walk room.
MoreGorgeous atmosphere and top notch service.A wonderful selection of wines and a small, perfectly sized dinner menu.A good selection of proteins and sides offered a la carte. My low score is because all 3 of us ordered steaks and all 3 were overcooked. One ribeye was so overdone we were forced to send it back. My filet ($32) was ordered medium and it arrived med well. The other delmonico was ordered med rare and was served med well.We were too embarrassed to send the whole order back but we probably should have. The steak that was sent back was cordially retracted from our bill.Beautiful location and wonderful staff (particularly at the bar) but the dry overcooked steak left a bad taste in all of our mouths.
MoreGreat food, excellent service. Good selection of music that is low volume and makes a nice background without interfering with your conversation. I took sword fish special with asparagus — it was great!
MoreAbsolutely amazing steak. I had the ribeye. It was cooked as ordered. Gigantic drink menu. Went to celebrate my engagement. I was only disappointed that we were sat on what felt like the porch. Walking through the restaurant was a beautiful mahogany set-up then we get to the porch and it's just a brick wall and some windows with no view due to being later in the day. It was disappointing. There were open seats and we had a reservation where I mentioned the engagement. I guess they didn't care. That's why I can't give 5 stars.
MoreHad a very good meal at a very good price. Steaks were cooked perfectly.
Food was great and so was the staff
The location and setting is wonderful, the restaurant is well set out with great old world feel. But the food and service fall so far short it is inexcusable. For our group of five, we all thought the appetizers were average but were prepared to overlook that. The main course (ranging from steak to pork chop to Thai curry) were all flavorless and poorly presented. None of us felt brave enough to try any desserts. The service was not rude, but not very helpful either. All in all, a real waste of time and money. The two stars for just for the location.
MoreWe had a great meal and great service. Belhurst is truly a unique place to dine and enjoy!
MoreProbably the worst meal and service I have had outside of a server spilling food on my wife. We had a reservation for 7:30 and had to wait 20 minutes to be escorted to a nearly empty seating area. After being seated we were told that they are a wonderful steak house that is out of filet, baked potatoes, scallops and prime rib???? At a steak house. My friend ordered a drink that took 45 minutes to receive and we were charged $100 a bottle for a local wine that is available for $25 5 miles away. In the end my bill was $450 for 4 people to be insulted by waiting to be overcharged. I am only disappointed that there is not a negative rating for this restaurant.
MoreWent to this restaurant with high expectations for my anniversary and since it’s a fine dining but ain’t nothing fine about their food . First the filet mignon was over cooked . They tried second time and it was better but my “ prime rib “ was a cheap piece of ribeye with some really fat marble and tons of gristle and no flavor like it was washed . Drinks well we orders water lake drink and oh boy it was a surprise green syrup with vodga and gummy fish inside ... yep gummies how classy eh . Waitress was not good with explaining the menu nor seem friendly . Another waiter next table was great for them very attentive and apologetic when they also complained about their “prime rib “ being not warm enough . Go figure
MoreThis is 1st bad review i have ever written. Tonight i had the worst steak ever!!! Was supposed to be filet mignon, done light pink inside, it was butterflied and cooked so well done it was not really edible. Also no flavor what so ever!!!! It was a dog chewy... sooo bad. The asparagus also had no flavor and was tough and yellowish! My husband had steak and mushrooms also had absolutely no Flavor! I’m shocked that a castle with a beautiful view doesn’t hire a chef that can cook. Total waste of money and not cheap!!!!
MoreExcellent dining experience! The service was exceptional and our family's dietary needs(gluten free) were no problem. We had a large party of 11 and we all had a delicious meal and some scrumptious desserts. I would definitely recommend the chocolate molten lava cake!!For a fabulous dining experience in a beautiful, picturesque setting, Edgar's is my top pick in the Finger Lakes.
MoreBelhurstCastle is a beautiful location on Seneca lake. The atmosphere is stunning. Really enjoyed the scenery. Watched two wedding take place. But I really went there for a great dinner and they fell way s.hort.im always in search for a top steak experience and I thought this was the place in the finger lakes. I ordered a 20, oz Porter house steak. What a disappointing experience. I paid $40 for the steak and $22 for two a la cart sides. The steak was all bone and grizzle. I should have BBQ my own. The salad was boring. Not what you would expect at such a fancy place. Disappointment is the word.
MoreWe went for brunch and had a lovely time! Everything was delicious and we particularly enjoyed the kale ceasar salad. They have a plethora of options to choose from and I would recommend it to anyone in the area. Special thanks to our waitress Jeanette who explained everything well to start, and kept up impeccable timing throughout our dining experience!
MoreHad the scallops, very good, and 2 sides. Nice that you can bring your own wine with only a $12 corkage fee. Setting is beautiful overlooking the lake.
MoreWent for a birthday recently and we had a party of 10 people. There were two other people in the restaurant and our server seemed to care less about what we needed. She forgot to take drink orders, cut us off while we were talking and was very inattentive. They served food with plastic covers over it and looked very unprofessional. A busser went to fill my water and grabbed the rim of the glass with his fingers. I ordered the prime rib and for $37 I would not order it again. The meat was flavorless and overpriced. I asked for a box and the waitress threw away my sides and half of my prime rib. Was severely disappointing and will not be coming back.
MoreIt was very awesome great food, highly recommended!
Good selection of beef cooked the way you like it and awesome deserts.
Nice place to go for special ocassions.
Brunch with family .. A special Gluten free cake for Patty . Thank you Chef Arron . Happy BIRTHDAY Cheryl Maggi .
MoreFrom the time we were greeted and seated until we left with full bellies it was an excellent experience! Great food and great service!
MoreGreat steak house. Located in Belhurst Castle/winery. The old Mansion made into a restaurant. Really nice place to dine. The grounds are amazing also. A must if your doing the lakes. Had Steak, Escargot, Soup and Salad. Al a cart sides. Good food at a fair price.
MoreSome of the best food and wine in the Finger Lakes. The service is exemplary. Worth every cent.
MoreLovely atmosphere. Waitress was excellent. Delicious roast duck entree!
Amazing atmosphere, view and service
Bland steak, not seasoned at all or cooked properly, and the ceaser salad was just sad looking served on what appeared to be a tea suacer. The service however was very good.
MoreReally disappointing. Went there on our honeymoon last night. Ordered 2 espresso martinis, as it didn't list cream being an ingredient (hubs can't have the dairy) but it came that way. Reordered, but we both still had to power through, they were gross. Bread was gross, charcuterie board was an atrocity. Stop and shop makes better cheese boards. This was literally cubed white and yellow cheddar with rolled up prosciutto. My steak and his duck were temped perfectly, however mine had zero presentation, the plating made no sense and the prosciutto on his duck was burnt to a char. Server was nice enough but not the level of service we expected. No manager ever popped over. Building itself was stunning but we wouldn't waste the money to return.
MoreWell first of they called us 25 minutes after our reservation time to bring us to our table. When we got to the table it wasnt cleaned off yet, so the waitress is asking the other waitresses if there is a 4 top open., They all said no, so we roamed around a little bit and she find us a clean table. She seated us and then forget about us. Every time she did come back she would disappear for long periods of time. She said she was getting bread, but she was gone long enough to bake it herself. She said she would get water refills but hoped someone else would fill them up first. Luckily the food was very good, because the service was terrible. For the cost of dinner there, I would expect to get a little more attention. when she served dinner, she brought out one dish at a time from the kitchen, with like 2 minutes between each one. Then never checked on us after we had our food.
Morewow! what an incredible architectural delight.right on the lake..beautiful dining area! Nice winery with a great wine tasting offered! all of their white wines were delicious. we had lunch at Edgars but had their $12 buffet lunch..not many selections but not horrible for 1w dollars..wait staff was excellent ...hamburgers iverdone..loaded potato soup..very nice..fresh crisp salad. One more entree selection would have been nice and an increase in price for the addition would be wwlcomed.
MoreGreat food!! Super nice server.. we were hesitant to go back after a not great experience.. but they knocked it out of the park!! Very happy!
MoreWe were there for a group luncheon. Served buffet style. The service was fantastic. And so was most of the food. The only exception was the shaved beef, flavor was great, but it was much too fatty for me.
MoreElegant dining with a beautiful view of the lake. The prime rib was perfect along with the 16 oz pork chop. Sides can be shared. Wine list hits all.
MoreSometimes these 1 star reviews are just people who got their feelings hurt or don't appreciate what it costs to put together a quality experience. Not this time. We ordered a ribeye and filet. Both were overcooked to somewhere North of medium well. And they were not seasoned, meaning not so much as a grain of salt. Broccoli side was over-steamed and mushy. We tried to eat, but mostly sat and looked at it thinking the server might come back. Nope. So what's the point, we paid the bill and left. So this review is for those who may be from out of the area, thinking this place looks like it's probably the best bet for a quality meal. That was not our experience. The bar and grill type places in town are superior. To the chef if there is one: You can't be there all the time. Invest in standards and training. Steak, broccoli, and checking on the table are as basic as it gets. I'm sorry.
MoreI was very disappointed with the overall experience of the restaurant. To start the night my reservation was 20 minutes late. After finally placing my order I was told by the waiter they would be right back with fresh bread. Twenty five minutes later I received the bread. While warm and very delicious that is not "right back". It then took even longer to receive my food. The food was delivered approximately 45 minutes after ordering. The one entree ordered was a filet mingot cooked medium. The steak came out rare. This whole experience ruined my thoughts on the establishment. While the location and building is amazing, I could not recommended this place.
MoreWe were seated by the window with a beautiful view of the lake. Service is good. They served us a variety of warm assorted bread. My steak was cooked to order, and seasoned just right. They also had a sale on some bottled wines and we picked a merlot for under $20.
MoreWent to brunch for my daughter's birthday, and it was relaxed and fun. Our waitress was very friendly and they brought out a piece of cake with Happy Birthday written on the plate( in icing). The food was okay, lots to choose from, and the venue was picturesque, with the snow gently falling outside the window facing the lake.
MoreThe staff was very friendly and service was great. The food was delicious. It also has a lively atmosphere. I highly recommend it.
MoreBeautiful views and excellent menu options. The bread and spreads to start is excellent as well.
MoreThe pork chop was amazing. The steak a bit fatty.
A first class experience wait staff very knowledgeable and friendly without seeming to be phony a thin slice of Heaven
MoreBeautiful old mansion tastefully transformed into a very nice restaurant. The food selection is very good, delicious and tastefully presented.
MoreWent for birthday in August. The castle is gorgeous, wish we had more time to explore. Impeccable service at a great pace, very knowledgeable server. Very expensive, but when knew birthday celebration, sent free dessert. Sadly, pork and steak entrees overcooked, and at those prices, unacceptable. We would have sent back, but dining experience was over 3 hours and left no time to enjoy sunset on long lawn.
MoreWonderful food! Beautiful view
